Last Orders shows Graham Swift writing at his best, and he well deserves the nomination for the Booker Prize. The atmosphere he builds up as the book progresses is one of thoughtful reverie, which I found so absorbing that I was irritated by anything which distracted me from the book . At first glance, Graham Swift’s Booker Award-winning Last Orders seems a rather slight novel built around a plot gimmick: “four blokes on a special delivery.” Their mission—to deliver Jack.

Why does Swift choose to make this link between the end of a night in the pub and the end of a life? 2.   Last Orders by Graham Swift, , available at Book Depository with free delivery worldwide/5(12K).
